About LAWIT

LAWIT explains the rules that affect businesses in Slovakia — from acts, regulations and official guidance — in plain language, with a link to the source.

Who the English version is for

LAWIT is written in Slovak first. The English version is for foreigners and expats who live, work or run a business in Slovakia and want to understand the same rules without reading the legislation in Slovak. It covers the same topics and the same facts as the Slovak pages.

What LAWIT does

  • Radar — tracks adopted and planned changes to the rules and turns them into deadlines and steps.
  • Explainers — articles on Law, Tech, Privacy and Business, always with key points, the date of application, practical steps and sources.
  • Tools — decision trees and checklists that run only in your browser.
  • LAWIT Crafts — guides for craftspeople and folk makers at remesla.lawit.sk.

What LAWIT does not do

LAWIT does not provide legal, tax or other professional advice and does not assess individual cases. The content is informational. If you are dealing with a specific situation, contact a lawyer, tax adviser, accountant or the competent authority.

LAWIT does not show advertising, does not use affiliate links and does not recommend specific service providers.

Who prepares the content

The author of the content is LAWIT. We do not give authors’ names or titles on articles, because the content is not signed by a specific expert. How the content is produced is described in the Editorial policy and the Methodology.

History of the domain

The domain lawit.sk used to belong to a company with business and IT activities, and the subdomain remesla.lawit.sk hosted a catalogue of folk crafts. Today’s LAWIT is a new project and takes nothing over from the original content. We redirect old links only where genuinely related content exists; the rest return the status “410 — gone”.
