Editorial policy
This policy describes how the content is actually produced. We do not promise more than we do.
1. Primary sources
Every statement about the law, a deadline, an amount or an obligation is based on a source. We prefer primary sources: the Collection of Laws (Zbierka zákonov) and Slov-Lex, the Official Journal of the EU and EUR-Lex, and the websites of ministries, the Financial Administration, the Personal Data Protection Office, the State Veterinary and Food Administration (ŠVPS) and other authorities. If the primary text was not available in full, we also use a secondary source (a professional portal, a law firm) and include it in the list of sources.
2. What we cannot verify, we do not publish
If we cannot verify a piece of information, we leave it out. If something is in flux — a bill, an unclear interpretation, missing guidance from an authority — we say so openly and mark it with the label Proposal or Uncertain.
3. Check date
Every article, briefing and tool shows the date the sources were last checked. The date means that we went through the sources as of that day — not that the law cannot have changed since.
4. Who prepares the content
The content is prepared by LAWIT, which is responsible for it. We do not sign articles with names and do not claim that a lawyer or tax adviser has reviewed them.
5. Independence
LAWIT does not show advertising, has no affiliate links and does not accept payment for mentions. It does not recommend specific providers (e.g. digital postmen or cash registers).
6. Corrections
We correct errors without undue delay and publish significant corrections. The procedure is described in the corrections policy.
7. The English version
The English pages are adapted from the Slovak pages for readers who live, work or do business in Slovakia without being native Slovak speakers. We keep the same facts and the same sources and add no legal claims in translation. Official Slovak terms are given in brackets the first time they appear, and sources in Slovak are marked as such.
8. Informational content
The content is not legal advice. See the Legal notice.
